Recreate table -- While in use

    Interesting... "change the definition..." Do you suggest I do that in the view definition on SS2k5, or the connection string in Access (not really practical, since every user has his or her own copy of the FE....)

    SS2k5. not the linked table definition (not practical like you mentioned).

    You can populate the table with some other name with all data that you want to insert newly

    and then switching names with SP_RENAME can help as it will take few miliseconds.
