Hi all,
Backup strategy:
Full 2am
diif evry 4 hrs 6am, 10am,2pm,6pm,10pm
log every 15mins.
Problem:a table is deleted at 10:10am:
Recovery of the database done as below:
1.take the tail log backup at 10:10am
2.Restore full backup(2am)
3.Here is the confusion:
I have diff backup and as well as log backup at 10:00am.
4.I restored the diff backup(10:00am) and then 10:00am log backup which resulted in error
Restore failed for Server 'sqldba1vs\ins1'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The log in this backup set terminates at LSN 112827000000450000001, which is too early to apply to the database. A more recent log backup that includes LSN 112827000000450100001 can be restored. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
So my question is
1.do we need to restore the differential backup at 10;00am or logbackup at 10:00am?
2.do we need to take care the schedule that the diff and log backups can not take place at the same time?
how it works?
plz advice me
Thanks

1. Restore the differential backup from 10:00 AM and the log backup from 10:15 with STOPAT 10:09.
2. Staggering the diff and log backup schedules would eliminate the confusion about which backup to restore.
