Hi gurus
Is it is possible to recover/initialize a lost DTS package owner password in SQL Server 2000. The createor of the package sealed it with a password and then left the company.
what about sysdtspackage in msdb?
Do you know a method to do this? Maybe a 3rd party tool?
Thanks
Helen

As far as I know, there still is no way to do this. The password is encrypted within the package id in sysdtspackages. It's not stored in plain text anywhere.

Hi Helen,
That will work. You'll end up with two packages with different names and different owners. This isn't a work around for your original problem, however, because you can't save the package unless you can open it in DTS Designer and you can't open it unless you know the owner password.
