Hi there fellow SSC team mates.
I am investigation Database Auditing software and was wondering who else uses this and what can be recomended.
The list I am currently reviewing is:
1. Impreva
2. Idera's SQL Compliance Manager
3. Lumigent
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:cool:

Which version of SQL Server are you needing to audit?
When I needed to audit SQL Server 2005, I looked at SoftTree DB Audit Expert, Idera SQL Compliance Manager, SQL Power Tools ZUI, and ApexSQL Audit. Of these, I did a trial install of SoftTree, but it didn't meet our requirements.
Instead, we upgraded to SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and used its native audit capability.

Hi Dave23,
Thanks for the response....We are using SQL2005 at the moment and are considering upgrading......so this might just be the nail in the coffin...:)
One question though... does the 2008 native auditing meet your demands?

At first there was an issue with native audit failing to capture the literal value in parameter queries, it would only show the variable name. This was fixed by applying SP1 Cumulative Update 3. After that, it has so far met our needs. I would recommend trying to set up a trial with developer edition on a single sandbox machine before taking the full plunge though, to make sure it meets your requirements as well.
Here's the MS technical article that was my first introduction to it:
