Hello all,
I recently upgraded SQL (from 2012 to 2014) as well as Visual Studio (2008 to 2013). Not to mention I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10. (lots of changes here). I had a SSRS project from VS 2008 which I had been managing for a while with no issues prior to the upgrade. After the upgrade (and some lengthy researching to install SQL Server Data Tools), I was able to open the original project and view the reports.
Then I tried to preview the reports and it was hit and miss.
Some of them run/preview without issue, but others it just shows:
An error occurred during local report processing.
An error occurred during report processing.
That's it. Nothing else. And I do have EnableRemoteErrors turned on. I can't find anything about this when I google so I'm hoping someone may have some pointers on what I can do/look at. If I can't get this resolved I'm toast.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Have you checked the SQL and Windows error logs?

No, I didn't specifically, but think I figured out the issue anyway. I actually tried hitting Run to preview the report, based on a forum reply elsewhere on another similar issue and was at least able to see more information about the error. It pointed to an issue with the security; apparently when converting over the project it dropped the usernames on all of the saved datasource credentials so I needed to re-add all of them.
Not sure why the full error message info wasn't showing up when previewing normally, but this issue appears to be solved.
Thank you for taking the time to review!
🙂
