Receiveing Windows Installer Message during Install of SQL 2005 Enterprise on Windows 2003

  • This is really odd, I have never experienced this issue in the past, and I have installed SQL Server a few hundred times.

During the install of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a Windows 2003 box, I suddenly see the Windows Installer splash banner with the following text. It is like it is stating how to properly install Windows Installer 4.5

Windows installer service is on the box and the service is running. Anyone have a clue about this one?

    Thanks in advance

  • If Windows Installer version on your server is 4.5 then it could be antivirus. I had not exact, but similar issue.

  • It is not saying how to install Windows Installer 4.5.

It is saying how to use MSIEXEC to install a .msi file. You can get this message when you try to run a .msi file and pass invalid parameters to the .msi file
