Excellent question and the 3 links you provided to explain the "good answer" were ( maybe ) the best ones.
It was easy for me to answer as I am studying everything coming from MSSQLTIPS and I have only to search in my own remembrances to retrieve the good solution ( not too difficult as I knew this tip was created in the last autumn ).

I knew about fn_dblog but answered that you can't do it without third party because the question was asking for "whodunnit" which to the best of my knowledge you can't determine from that. Is the something in there that can be used to tie that back to a user?

when it said 'easily read the transaction log', I wasn't sure, I suppose it depends how you define easy!
thanks for the reminder though.

Excellent question. Thanks Steve

I answered correctly but really thought a 3rd party product would have been 'easy'.

I was in the same boat as Sean on the "who did it" part.

I knew of the function to return the login for the current connection, but I thought it was like GETDATE() where you just provide the parentheses because they're required. I guess I should take a closer look at some of those functions once in a while.
