i want my excel connection to read column names from my excel worksheets in which the column names do not start in the first row

You can use a named range instead of the sheet (sheet has a $ at the end; named ranges don't, and can also specify the column/row for both the starting/ending of the range). However, all of the column headings do have to be in the SAME row.
