re sql server express edition

  • Hi,

i have installed sql server 2005 express edition on my server, its working fine, but what i want to know is what you guys think is the difference between sql server express edition which is free compared with standard edition which costs around 70 US $ /month , is there a number of databse limit in MB or total number of databases or number of users that can be created,

    please help

  • i have found out the solution at microsoft.com it states the maximum size of the database cannot be more than 4Gb

  • well, that's one bit of it.  You should also read the licence agreement - previously you could only use MSDE (now replaced by Express) if you had a Visual Studio licence or similar licence... This might have changed though!

SQL Server standard offers other features such as better tools, being able to run profiler, etc.  Perhaps if you tell us the specifics of your situation we might be better able to weigh up the pros and cons of Express vs Standard given the cost.  Cheers

  • hi,
