The problem occurs while trying to access one remote server at the tree expansion.
This problem is still an issue for us where by certain workstations have the problem and others do not. We have SSCed, Googled, Yahooed, and MSHelped this issue to no avail. No dbs set to AutoClose. No ODBC tracing on. All setting, service packs, OS, and connecting methods are the same. User logins do not change the issue, There are not too many instances of databases on the server. SQL 2000 has been uninstalled and reinstalled with updated service packs locally. Polling server has been changed. We have run out of ideas and hope that someone has another one to try.

If your saying that expanding the Database folder is slow, then check out MS website. They have a new Sql Server SP4 Beta version out. It addresses the slow open/display of databases in this new SP. The fix is to apply SP4.

Thank you for the reply! This info is exactly what I was looking for. I have seen this problem listed online about 150 times and tried all posted resolves with no results. Very bizarre with two PCs set up the same way and using the same connection methods would have different results. My only other thinking on the possible cause would be the order of installing the updates to both the clients and the server for both the OS and the database components.
