Hello
Kinda new to SQL - upgrading app - sql2000 to sql 2008R2
Just starting to look at maintenance plan Wiz/etc
One thing I notice is that when I go to modify a plan or backup job
a 'subplan_1' is always present. I don't have any subplans in mind
but am unable to see the properties of the (main) plan I created
I know it's a navigation newbie question but I hate to waste time and can't seem to find docs on this.
How do I get to the actual properties (scheduling, compression setting, append setting etc)?
Why does SQL automatically assume that there will be 'subplans"???

You can't put tasks into the parent maintenance plan..everything gets put into a subplan, and then that's what you can schedule (and rename from subplan1). Even if you only have one set of things running, it will be in a subplan.

Hello
I didn't know if I should start a new topic - it's a question related to the main plan for full backup in 08r2.
Basically in sql 2000 when I created a main plan for a full backup, I was able to opt for 'delete (backup) files older than x days/weeks'
I just looked at all properties/settings in my new maint plan and the agent job props etc
can't find where to specify the same.
Can someone tell me where it's done?
we have been keeping 5 days and would like to continue doing same
