You cannot count on the larger file being more recent. Use the RESTORE HEADERONLY commands to determine the content.

Ok I guess I am ready to call it a day!
As we speak they are copying the full backup to a special drive that can be connected to the new server via a USB port ( It's like a big thumb drive )
Will comment on this later on Sunday or Monday ( Eastern Time 8-5 )

OK everything went smooth
Can somebody tell me the syntax for creating a full backup on a database.
First do i have to create a backup set

You can find the syntax for the BACKUP DATABASE command in Books Online.

Thanks for giving me the syntax for the restore command.
I just ran it went for 45 minutes with no errors.
Went fine!
Now my next step is to do a backup database to a single file ( a full backup )
Probably might end up using SQl servermanagement studio todo that!

When you use SSMS, you can use the "Script" button to get the T-SQL script that is run. Then you can schedule that as needed.
