My query window disconnects by itself all the time when i am running long queries.
I create multiple temp tables once for abt 3 hrs and then select all the data from those tables as next step but suddenly i gets diconnected.
what might be the reason.

Could be a badly configured switch that is creating a storm. It even could be one badly configured network card... This is basically a network issue.

I've seen this message before, with intermittent network outages.

If it is a network issue, there is no work around I am afraid. You will have to get the Techs or Network Admins to find out where the problem is and then fix it.

B****slap your network engineer, tell them not to let it happen again or there will be an employment outage.
Seriously though Mike, this kind of thing is demoralising to staff and costs the company money. You're the database guy, not the network guy, and he's compromising your ability to deliver. Escalate it tactfully but without pulling punches either.
