query returns piece meal

    A query is run through an apps and in profiler the query is seperated into many tiny bits.Once the query is run twice the other times it runs ok..

    1)does sql always split up stuff in tiny bits?

    2)what do I do to increase the caching

    the query has to be run a couple of times to be able to run properly.
