I have installed SQLServer 2000 personal edition on my windows 2000 PC. the enterprise manager is working fine, but query Analyzer is n't detecting the instance of sql server. even DTS is having the same issue? what could be the problem...?

I've used it like that with no problems. Sure the service is still running? Is it installed as the default instance or named? On the default port? How about running profiler (this will verify the service is running!) and watching to see if QA tries to connect?

I think that service is running as it shows up in lower right corner os system tray.
even profiler is not able to connect. its a named instance on default port.

Can you manually type in the name\instance?
