I have been having difficulties with Query Analyzer hanging ever since installing the 2000 client tools. (This also happened occasionally with earlier versions of the tools) Query Analyzer will hang up, and my only option seems to be to stop it in Task Manager.
The problem almost always occurs when I save the contents of a window, or close a window. It also typically happens when I have more than one window open. It seems like I can reduce the problem somewhat by doing File/Save As instead of just using the Save button on the toolbar, but it doesn't eliminate it entirely.
If anyone else has any pointers or thoughts on what to look for, they would be greatly appreciated.

This has been happening to me as well. I save most of my stuff to a Novell file system, and I am wondering if this has something to do with it. What kind of file system are you saving your file too?

Yes, it is a Novell server. Interesting...

I've been thinking of switching to a Windows network share to see if problem goes away, but have yet to try.

This problem seems to have been resolved by applying Service Pack 2 of the SQL/Server Client Tools.

I've got SP3 installed, now. Can't remember if this has been a problem, since I did the install. I hope this fixes the problem. Only time will tell.
