DBA Experts,
When I try to load Query Analyzer, it shows up in the task manager as running, but the application itself is not loading. Same with Profiler.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the local database and client tools, still no resolution.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks

Anik,
are you sure that it's not loading or is it just loading in a minimized window ? I had the same issue with some windows in Management Studio. It seems not to open, but on the taskbar you see the icon. Choose maximise and you can access the application. Check your start menu shortcut that the run option displays "normal window".

Markus,
Thanks for the response. No, it is not opening in minim. mode. I checked that. Only it shows up on the task manager - same for profiler - it appears under processes but not under applications. Under process it shows up as using about 3000K mem usage. That looks less which would probably mean that it is not loading fully due to some reason. May be a DLL is damaged and which did not get updated when I uninstalled and reinstalled the application. I do not know which DLL that might be though!
Thanks
Anik

Terminal services manager does the same thing to me.
Go to the properties of the shortcut that you are launching, and change the Run Property to Maximized (not normal, not minimized). Click ok and run the shortcut. It should work.

Well finally the solution:
System Restore!
Thanks to everyone who responded.
