QOD 10/8

  • "Write Delay Error" - I have seen this on our network and it has not been SQL server 2000. each time it was a windows permission error. For some reason this OS on this machine decides the change permission is no longer important. All we have to do is reset the permission to allow change and the "Write Delay Error" goes away. We cannot afford to take this machine down right now to reformat it and reinstall the OS. So for the answer to always be "Hardware" is not always correct.

  • The answer WASN'T "always be "Hardware".

The question WAS: What's the FIRST thing you should check when troubleshooting the problem? (that's not the EXACT wording, but close enough). The answer was correct that the hardware is the FIRST thing you should check. It never said that's the ONLY thing you should check...it's just the first.
