I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Packages that are written in SSIS have various purposes and will depend on your needs.

I think the point of the interviews is to find what you have done with SSIS in your experience. Not for you to find what I have done in my experience.

The question is about SSIS packages in YOUR projects, not ours so you're the only one who can answer.
Please do not ask any more questions like this ever again. Most of people in the SQL Server community do not appreciate people that try to cheat their way thru an interview, or cheat at anything else.
For best practices on asking questions, please read the following article: Forum Etiquette: How to post data/code on a forum to get the best help

I strongly suggest that you browse the internet, find some examples and then try to implement said examples in your environment. You will learn a good amount about SSIS, and some about SQL Server along the way. Being able to confidently describe your project is far more valuable than trying to recite a few projects from others that have done it. Experience is the key.

I've used SSIS to:
1. rethread particulate data out of a table and back into itself to avoid locks due to trigger overlap
2. derive up to 137 parameters for DBCC from public-domain barometric data
3 interleave table valued functions with random FNORDs (function-ordered values)

And don't forget the most important thing, that SSIS is an older and less robust method of package execution than DTS.

I used SSIS to implement a real-time currency arbitrage system that drives the vast majority of trades world-wide.
Itβs also a great tool for development of industrial process-control systems for oil refineries, pharmaceutical production, and nuclear reactors.
I believe Pixar is using it as a rendering engine for computer animation.

Since you guys insist on raining in on my parade of resisting giving answers away, then I might as well join in too. It is already too late afterall.
I have used SSIS to recover corrupt databases when I had no valid backup. I have also used it to automate a factory line in a sewing plant.

Meh!
I used SSIS today that used DBCC Timewarp to corrupt a database last week that I am building next week and used the special hidden properties to do backups that are created 5 minutes before you need them and exist for only 2 minutes.

That is a very intriguing use for SSIS. I may have to learn how to do that someday;-)

SSIS is used very extensively by the state security services of several countries to generate evidence for important show trials. This usage occurs mainly in Eastern Asia. In the US this kind of use is frowned upon except when carried out by the CIA or by the Department of Homeland Security.

IMHO, The correct answer for this in a interview, (I had to answer it this way before I ACTUALLY had a chance to use SSIS) is to say that you don't have experience with SSIS. Then provide examples of how you would intend to use it, or examples of SSIS packages you have written and tested in a non-production enviornment.

I'm not sure if you're authorized to disclose the meaning of SSIS:
State Security Interna(tiona)l Spybot
You can do about anything with it. But everything wil be reported using State Security Reporting Software.
