Hello All,
This is just a POC question. when we upgrade SP2 from SP1, we dont have to upgrade all the hot-fixes and cummutative upgrades prior to SP2. My understanding is that SP2 has every HF/Commutative upgrades included as a package between SP1 to SP2.
Am I on the right track.
Any comments are appreciated.

Everything should be bundled, if not, when you do another windows update, it will ask you to install the remaining patches.

Yeah, everything that was between SP1 & SP2 will be included. Anything after SP2 will not.

SQL service packs are cumulative so you are on the right track. However a service pack will probably not contain ALL CUs from the previous SP, as the code will be frozen at a certain point in the life cycle.
Therefore you need to be careful if you are in the habit of applying CUs. SQL 2012 SP2 covers up to SP1 CU9 (i.e. missing CU 10 and 11.)
