Profiler & Server admin role

  • Hi,

I am just wondering if it is possible to give permissions to a login to run profiler without assigning it to sysadmin server role.

Can this be done by giving execute privileges on selected stored procs/functions...

    This is in SQL 2000/

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Don't believe so. you'd have to test it, but I believe that they can directly. BOL shows most procedures need syadmin roles setup.

You could create a job for people that rnus the stored procedures. If the job is owned by the user, they will run it under the SQLAgent proxy account. You could make this account a sysadmin, but I'd be REALLY wary of doing this.
