    Thanks

  • Nice question - straight forward, no tricks -- Thanks

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

  • I guessed, and was correct, but the reference points to SQL 2000 BOL. I can't find this in current SQL 2008 BOL, but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.

  • Nice question thank you.

Besides the explanation on the msdn link referring to SQL 2000: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa173918%28v=sql.80%29.aspx

there is also one msn article referring to SQL 2008 R2: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174203.aspx

  • Thanks for the question, I wasn't aware about this requirement.

  • Nice interesting question. I got it wrong and learnt something new.

The reference to an SQL 2000 BoL page is a bit odd though. SQL 2005, SQL 2008, and Denali are covered by this page (which has 3 versions chosen by the (v=SQL.<version>) part of the URL.

Nice one Tom. I was wondering how you found this article. Three of us where I work have typed in the follwing string and it does not come up in the search results.

SQL Server Profiler free disk space

We removed the word disk and the 2005/2008 BOL article showed in the search result list.

  • Nice question.

  • Interesting question, if the disk dropped below any of the 1st 3 choices profiler would be my least concern.

Got it right by a lucky guess.

This is 10 MB minimum of available free space in the users TEMP folder just to start the application.

There are other articles on how to move the folder Profiler uses for TEMP storage to improve performance.

The space used in the TEMP folder to gather trace information can become very very large so many users will move this off thier system drive if they have a choice.

  • Always good to remember these things - but the Profiler would be the last thing on my mind if I only had 10MB space left on my disk 😉

  • Nice question, thank.
