ProcessorAffinityMask value on a SQL server server?

  • There is a KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892100 mentioning about this.

I am having an error “System error 64 has occurred. The specified network name is no longer available.” The server is windows 2000 Terminal/SQL2000. The ProcessorAffinityMask value is 0xFFFFFFFF. Is it a default value? As per this KB “The 0x0 or 0xFFFFFFFF values are used to disable the ProcessorAffinityMask entry”.

Wondering whether should talk to system admin group to look into this or it is set up this way for a good reason or some standards.

What is the best practice for setting ProcessorAffinityMask value on a SQL server server? Any suggestion or recommendation?

  • It is related to registry.

Here is one link. Hopefully, it is helpful.
