For two SQL 2008 SSRS reports that is stored in SharePoint 2007 integrated mode. I have scheduled two reports, Report1 at 7:22am and Report2 at 7:23. The Report Server is scaled out across two servers and SQL Server is clustered.
Report1 runs at the scheduled time and then 15 minutes later before sending at 7:52am (30 minutes later than scheduled).
Report2 also runs at the scheduled time and then 15 minutes later with 2 further 15 minute time intervals. Report2 is not received and in the manage subscription show as “Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server.”
There are no errors in the SSRS log files but in application event viewer is the following error.
Scheduling and Delivery Processor cannot connect to the SMTP server mySMTP.mycompany.com that is used for e-mail delivery.
What is causing this problem of the reports being re-rendered every 15 minutes before it fails after 4 attempt? As it is not affecting every subscription.
Can the number of attempts and time difference before resending be modified?

This problem has been fixed by modifying the RSReportServer.config file.
