Problems with adding a cluster node

  • Hey all,

To make a long story short, I'm attempting to add two nodes into an existing 2005 cluster. At the end of the install, it fails stating "invalid drive D:". On the other servers, I installed the local files to their D:. Well to try and be brief, we're rebuilding the cluster due to issues with having a secondary drive as a partition (local drive, ran out of space). So I am installing the instance on these two nodes, will fail over and then rebuild the other servers without the D:. Anyways, is there anyway around this? It's wanting a D: to mirror what the other nodes in the cluster have setup. I just want it to point to the C: instead.

In the setup log, I see this:

MSI (s) (50:DC) [12:40:50:514]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding INSTALLSQLSHAREDDIR property. Its value is 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\'.

MSI (s) (50:DC) [12:40:50:514]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding INSTALLSQLDIR property. Its value is 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\'.

How do I change these values without effecting the existing installations? Am I going to have to do it through a command prompt? What effect if anything will this have on the existing installations?

    Thanks in advance

  • Install a new instance!
