Problems while Restoring DataBase

  • When I am trying to Restore a previously backed up data I am getting the following error.

(Please note that the Machine where I had backed up the database is different from the Machine where I am restoring the database)

THE DATABASE THAT YOU ARE ATTEMTING TO RESTORE WAS BACKEDUP UNDER A DIFFERENT SORT ORDER ID(52) THAN THE ONE CURRENTLY RUNNING ON THIS SERVER (40) , AND AT LEAST ONE OF THEM IS A NON BINARY SORT ORDER ID"

Please suggest me what to do..

  • What version of SQL? If 2000, I think you can get around this. If it's 7 or below, I think you are screwed and would need to move the data and schema separately.
