Hi All,
I am unable to install SQl Server 2005 standard edition on Windows Vista Home basic edition. Can you please suggest me ways through which I can overcome this problem?
Thanks in Advance.

Standard and Enterprise editions need a server OS, not a desktop OS. They won't install on XP, Vista, etc.
You can set up a virtual server, install a server OS on it, then install SQL Standard on there. Or you can use Express or Dev edition on Vista/XP. You might be able to use Workgroup edition on XP/Vista, I'm not sure.

I had a similar problem. I loaded Windows XP pro on my laptop instead, then installed SQL 2005 developer edition.
