Does anyone know if there are problems with installing SQL Server 7.0 on NT 4.0 with service pack 6A? We have been trying this afternoon and it gets as far as installing MDAC and then just seems to go to sleep. Then of course it won't uninstall.

Should be no issue. Is this an install of the SQL Server or the Service Pack.

We are trying to install SQL Server 7.0. The only difference between this and all other installs we have done is that this particular server has NT4.0 with service pack 6A and Norton Anti-virus running on it.

shut down the Anti Virus before installing. It probably does not like you updating the MDAC files. That is a place where someone would place a virus or a backdoor.

Steve, Thanks for the advice, it worked fine once we had disbled the Anti virus software!
(It took a bit of persuading to get our techie to let me do it!)
