Hello,
This problem occured in SQL Server 2005 Eval. without SP1. I have only one instance (default), and SQL Server 2000 is not installed.
I attempted to analyze DTS packages from the Upgrade Advisor Analysis Wizard. I got to the 'Connection Parameters' step, entered 'default' as the Instance Name, and tired both Windows and SQL Server authentication. Either way, I got the following message:
SQL Server version: 09.00.1399 is not supported by this release of Upgrade Advisor.
My next step was going to be to download SP1. The account that I am using has a login to SQL Server with sysAdmin rights. The database engine is configured to allow local and remote connections.
I am trying to follow some examples in Kirk Haselden's book on Integration Services. I will check to see if there is a forum for this book.
Otherwise, what else could the problem be? Will this just not work with the eval edition?
Thank you for your assistance!

Were these DTS packages or SSIS packages? If they were DTS packages and SQL2000 isn't installed, then why would you point the Upgrade Advisor to the local (SQL) server rather than a SQL2K server or possibly local package files? Have you imported the packages in to SQL2K5?

Thanks for your response on this. I'll have to put this on the back burner for now.
