Hi,
i face a strange issue. Let me explain the problem.
I have developed a package, which contains 'send mail task', which will send mail on success of the job. I run this package from BIDS and the package runs fine , and sends out mail. But when i run the same package from RUN prompt (using dtexec command) , i get the following error.
------------------------------------------- ERROR ------------------------------
Description: The task "Send Mail Task" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Similar error occurs , when i have 'script task'.
Please let me know what is the reason for this issue ,and how can i rectify it.
Thanks,
Arun

Probably need to re-install SSIS, I've seen this with messed up installations.

Hi,
Any other ways to resolve this issue? i feel,re-installing SSIS maynot be the ideal solution.
Thanks,

It sounds like you do not have the full SSIS client installed from the SQL Server installation CD.
BIDS ships with SQL Server but you can only get SSIS with SQL Server Standard, Developer, or Enterprise editions.

I realize re-install SSIS is NOT an ideal suggestion, unfortunately it is the only one I've seen solve this problem.
I did think of another couple of questions for you though..
1. What version of SQL is installed where you are trying to run this from?
2. What version of BIDS is installed?
Let me give you a scenario.. Installed the admin tools for SQL 2005 including BIDS, later installed SQL 2008 Express. I cannot do any SSIS development for SQL 2008 because Express doesn't support it. If I uninstall the SQL 2008 Express and install SQL 2008 Developer I will be ok. However if you are trying to do this on a box that has Standard, Enterprise, or Developer installed you are screwed, re-installl SSIS and the tools.
