The error message pretty much tells you the story. The account you are trying to connect with is unable to connect. It could be the user doesn't exist or maybe the password is incorrect. Right click on the LinkServer and then go to the Security tab. Make sure you have entered valid information for how you want to connect.

In addition to Sean's recommendation, if you're allowing the linked server to 'passthrough' the existing credentials, doublecheck you're not running into what's known as the 'double-hop' issue for kerberos. There's a few thousand references on google once you know that keyword and they'll walk you through the checklist and how to test to make sure that's not the problem.
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.
