Problem installing SQL Server 2005

  • Hi, I got a new company laptop and are trying to install SQL Server on it, and whether its the Express Edition, Developer, etc, I can't get the SQL Server Management Studio to appear anywhere where I can access it. The install seemes to go okay, but the only thing that appears in the SQL Server folder under programs in the start menu is the Configuration Tools. I've removed and re-installed multiple times, but nothing changes. Any ideas what the issue could be?

    My OS is Windows XP.

    Thanks,

  • Have you reviewed the logs in the following (or similar) location?

  • Hi,

Not wanting to sound witty, although I am a funny guy, are you sure you have not just installed the client components during the installation process?

On the "Components to Install" page of the wizard, be sure to select the SQL Database Service item.

Failing that, post your install log and I will be happy to take a look for you.
