Hi I am trying to install adventureworks2008 on windows 8 on which sql 2008 is installed but getting error"Object reference not set to instance of object"
could any one tell me what is wrong?

You should just be able to attach the database file directly to SQL Server. Is that what you're trying to do?

Earlier versions of AdventureWorks had some sort of installation wizard doing that for you. Which from time to time could fail horribly if you were using named instances for example.
