  I tried to attach database to sql server 2008 .

  i got error

  "Database 'DATABASE_NAME' cannot be upgraded because it is read-only or has read-only files. Make the database or files writeable, and rerun recovery."

  Sounds like the read only file system property is set to true on one of the files you are trying to attach.
