A Vice President ocasionally runs a report which interrogates the entire database. Is there any way to prioritise this job so that it can get a high priority and completely quickly rather than running for hours

Rewrite the report so that he gets less data than the whole db...
What is the report about that it requires downloading so much data?

It is not possible to rewrite the query as the job examines the entire database to produce the summary data he requires.
It is just the amount of data that needs to be read that is causing the delay.

What's the report about?

what is the frequency of this report ?! can it be scheduled to run at night so he has it first thing the next morning ?!
also...how much does the data change ?! would it be possible, perhaps, to do a sort of "differential report" to get only the data that has changed since the last report instead of requerying the whole database every time ?! Maybe use a date range filter or something ?!
**ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI !!!**
