In BIDS 2008 this is the icon between print preview and page layout, looks like a page with blue lines across it. I cannot fine a menu item to match.

I am not sure the print layout is what you want, it sounds like your columns have their visibility turned off. Right click on the column and go to column visibility and click Show.

i am not able to understand column visibility
i have 3 columns
column 1 is visible
i get the design exactly as below link
http://blogs.lessthandot.com/index.php/DataMgmt/ssrs/creating-mailing-labels-in-sql
i am firing the report from asp.net front end
in that there is just export , refresh & navigation buttons & when the report is displayed only the first column is displayed

What happens when you export?

i can export to excel or PDf & thats the only option i have
there is no print button shown( i m checking in FF browser)
but my main 2 concerns r now
1) the lables apperaing in single column though the design view is as shown in the link
2) there is no print button seen to directly print the report

Choose the export to PDF. This will render the report in 3 columns (just as the print layout would in BIDS or Report Builder 2/3). The preview that you are viewing will not show report columns. If you export to Excel I am not guaranteeing that this will render correctly.
The reason no print button is appearing is you are using an asp.net page to display. I do not use firefox browser. It works correctly in IE, BIDS and Report Builder.
Please try exporting the report to PDF.

i tried exporting
1) to excel
it appears in a single column as seen in the report viewer
2) to pdf
only one label is visible that too in the center of the screen
3) i have another report with table design in rdlc which when viewed in IE & FF
displays correct width but when viewed in google chrome the table column width gets decreased & the data wraps in multiple lines
4) why is there no print button by which directly the report can be printed
5) and as said with the link that i have reference i have doe excatly and getting the design also in teh same way then why am i not getting teh report displayed in multiple columns
6) if i need to view the report from asp.net report designer cant it provide the same functionality
