It has been suggested to me that table names should be prefixed with tab as it makes it easier to spot the table in some TSQL.
I find this convention hard to support. Do you find any merit in such a convention?

Personally I detest all forms of prefixing. It makes things harder to read, not easier, and in most cases the object type is obvious from how it is used. The only real case when it's not is tables/views, since both can be selected from and appear interchangeable (which is good in general).
