Pre-installation Procedures
Setting up the Active Directory
Configure local security settings for the SQL Server service account.
SQL Server with SAN Storage:
-Update HBA Firmware (Communicate with the Support team of the product)
-Set up Multipathing drivers – This is done by Storage team but DBA should be involved.
-Test the Multipathing and failover.
For 32-bit servers, configure AWE and PAE.
Configure antivirus software SEPARATELY to skip LDF/MDF/NDF files.
Install SQL Server
Post-installation checks
1.Check that SQL Server 2008 has installed correctly
2.Check the TCP/IP network protocol library been enabled on the server?
3. To find the latest service packs and cumulative updates
4.. Configure SQL Server memory, if required
5. Configure Database Mail with public & private profiles.
6. Configure SQL Server Agent’s failsafe operator.
7.. Create default alerts for severities 16 through 25.
