Does this work on 2008 packages too?

Yes, I did test with a SQL 2008 SSIS package as well and it did update the connections successfully.

Many thanks - This will come in helpful very soon.
I've had a quick scan of your script and it doesn't seem to change the MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml file to change the named instance.
I've imported a few SSIS packages (SQL Agent Backup Jobs etc) recently through SSMS and needed to edit this file to ensure the jobs work.
Could this be achieved using Powershell too, or is it in your script and i'm too dumb to see 🙂
New DBA alert! 😉

No the script does not update the MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml file. But this can be achieved by writing a powershell script.
All the best!
