I am getting this error in my sql logs on the prod environment for quite some time now.
Process 53:28 (8c4) UMS Context 0x11DC3F30 appears to be non-yielding on Scheduler 4.
Error: 17883, Severity: 1, State: 0
I tried to dig into this issue and landed in at a solution from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909734/en-us. Now after discussing it with the management we called Microsoft to get the hotfix. Here we came to know that the SQL 2000 SP4 is regressed with this hotfix and instead they advised us to go for a Cumulative Hotfix build 2187. But the issue is it needs a Reboot which makes us go for the maintenance window.
Please let me know if there are any known issues with build 2187. We dont want any new issues with this. My environment is a SQL 2000 on SP4 and an Active/Active cluster.

I didn't have problems applying 2187. But is wasn't a cluster environment.
You can see the remaing issues >2187 on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894905/
