Hi guys,
Yesterday, I attended one interview for DBA.I got following questions.But i didn't answers these questions.Please help me in this regard.
1)if log file fills 100% then how do you know?
2)what is lsn?
3)what are compatibility levels?
4)what are free reuirements to configure log shipping?
5)If log shipping fails then how do you re-initialise it?
6)Can we transfer logins and jobs from one server to another? if yes how?

This is a curious list of questions. What makes you ask these particular questions?

Gosh... do you know how to use Books Online? These are simple interview questions that you should know if you deserve the position. You really should spend some time looking them up on your own.

Seriously, all of those questions can be answered straight out of Books Online. If you're after a DBA job, Books Online is your number 1 resource and one you should be familiar with.

But if it is a phone screen don't answer straight out of the BOL because people can tell 🙂 Also don't bring cheat-sheets into the interview

We are more than happy to help, but we want you to do a little work first. Go research those questions, search in Books Online. If you don't understand something specifically, like how compatibility modes operate, ask that. We can help explain it better.

I'm 100% in agreement, we can pass you the ball but you have to show yourself open and willing to catch and carry it for at least a few yards. You may get hit in the process but that's the beauty of it, isn't it?
