    thanks Jeff - thats my problem - I am still on level 80

    'The current compatibility level is 80.'

    Thanks for all the help - will check what the implications are to ALTER the DATABASE Compatibility to 100 - any advice?

    Yes. Make a backup just before you do the change and have the users test it before you bring it back into service.
