Physical-memory values on Windows Task Manager - what is "Cached" and "Free"?

  • Does anyone know what these 2 values mean under Physical Memory (MB) in the Performance Tab of Windows Task Manager?

    - Cached

    - Free

"Total" is straightforward, that is the total RAM on the server.

"Available" is the memory that is not taken up by anything.

But I don't know what the other two mean.

I am on a physical server, Windows Server 2008 R2.
