PF usage is high

  • Hello experts..

Though am not sure if this is the right forum for my issue, still posting..

I have an issue with my Production SQL server box. I have windows 2003 server on which SQL server 2000 is installed.

The box having 8 GB RAM.

From past few days, it has been observed that, PF usage is occupying 6.7 GB where as when i checked under processes tab in Task manager, the total amount of Mem usage is not exceeding 2 GB. but in Task manager, under Performance tab, PF usage is showing 6.7 GB used.

    Where is rest memory gone...?

When i checked even viewer, am seeing some errors with event id 17052 Error "Communication link failure" ....does it cause any mem issues?

Please help me in fixing this issue.

I am struggling to fix...can any one please help....?

  • There doesn't appear to be any issue to be fixed. As has been noted in several articles and forum posts, Task Manager on 32-bit systems does not accurately report the correct usage of memory.

When using AWE memory - this shows up as PF Usage.

What issues are you having that you feel need to be addressed?
