HI. I have a sql server running on a windows NT 4.0 machine. My desktop is running windows 2000 professional. I am able to run system monitor from my machine and view counters I have selected for this sql server running on the win nt 4.0 machine. No problem there. But when I choose to run a counter log in performance monitor, i get a message saying, 'the log or alert has not started, refresh log or alert list to view current status or see the application event viewer log for an errors'. it appears i can only run counter logs on my desktop against only my machine. i even tried running a counter log against another win 2000 server we use and no luck there either. I am set up on both of the unlucky machines as an administrator because i thought it was a permissions problem. does anybody have any suggestions here? or is this not possible?

I had a similar problem which was resolved by entering my domain account details in the 'Run as' window on the General tab in the Performance Counter Logs properties.

HI.. I do not have a 'run as' window on my GENERAL tab. I've looked on the other 2 tabs, LOG FILES and SCHEDULES, but nothing there either.
