Hi,
We have a server ( quad processor, 4gb mem, Win2k, patched to latest level ) with multiple installations of SqlServer 2K ( 2 in fact, both patched to sp3a  + an installation of Sybase 12.0.
When we connect directly on the Server using EM & query a table, the results are instantaneous, however on the same server using QA or remotely using EM/QA the results take an age ( minutes instead of seconds!! ). The table is only small +/- 1,000 rows & has relevant indexes.
So what we were wondering is why so slow??, we've tried with TCP/IP connections & Named Pipes but neither seem to alter the speed at which the results are returned. We've checked our network & that seems ok, plus QA directly on the server takes an age also.
Any ideas/suggestions/experience with multiple instances of Sql2K & performance issues ?
Thks in advance.

Hi,
Ok, tracked it down to a combination of varbinary & image columns in the table. It appears that once these are excluded from the query the response is < 1 sec !!!. So my next question is; does everyone experience the same issues with these types of columns in tables/queries ? & are there any ways to minimise this time delay if you do have to have tables containing these types of columns ?
Thks in advance.
