Do you mean compatability mode? (80,90,...)?
I doubt it will. All the compat mode does is enable of disable the new features. It does not make the server behave like an earlier version
eg, if SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 run a query in different ways, setting the compat mode to 80 on the 2005 server will not make it run like it did in 2000
