With existing customers working with a lot of 32bit 2003 servers I took our test (64bit ; dev. edition) SSAS database and restored this on 32bit standard edition.
Processing went from 2 to 59 seconds, partially perhaps by the standard edition processing sequentially instead of in parallel. But perhaps 64bit is also much faster than 32bit. Few (5) dimensions where involved with a small facttable (3000 records)
This really worries me.. Is a standard edition SQL server on 32bit suitable for production anyway?
Is sequential processing the only option when using the standard edition..?
Your thoughts please..
