Hi to all. I am moving our SQL instance from physical to virtual (clean install). We will remain at SQL 2005 Standard 64 bit for now (OS Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard 64 bit). SQL Version (physical) = 9.0.3353
Back in the day the following patches were installed:
SP2
kb934459
KB948108
Question:
Should I simply apply SP4 to my clean install or should I apply (SP2, kb934459, KB948108, SP3, SP4).
My understanding is service packs are cumulative so I can jump straight to SP4 without the need to apply any of the above.
Kind Regards,
Phil.

SP4 contains all upgrades & patches prior to SP4. So no need to do 5 differents patches.
That being said, even if the risk on low, you should still do a retest of the application after the upgrade before moving prod there officially.

Hi. Yes I plan to test prior to move.
Thanks,
Phil.
