parsename

  • I am getting some problem in using parsename fuction,if my login name is DOMAIN\firstname.lastname,it is displaying only the last name, but i want to display as firstname.lastname.

  • One simple forumla will return correctly whether the domain is present or not...

    DECLARE @MyDomainName SYSNAME

    SET @MyDomainName = 'firstname.lastname'

    SELECT SUBSTRING(@MyDomainName,CHARINDEX('\',@MyDomainName)+1,128)

    SET @MyDomainName = 'DOMAIN\firstname.lastname'

    SELECT SUBSTRING(@MyDomainName,CHARINDEX('\',@MyDomainName)+1,128)

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
